Saharareporterssport– Former Nigerian captain, Nwankwo ‘Papilo’ Kanu has hailed the resilience spirit of Super Eagles after playing 1-1 draw against the ‘wounded’ Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in the second leg of the 2018 World Cup qualifier decided at the Omnisport Amadou Ahidjo Stadium, in Yaounde, Cameroon on Monday.
Nigeria had earlier defeated the reigning African champions 4-0 during the first leg at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium last Friday in Uyo.
Even though the Super Eagles got the first goal courtesy of Moses Simon strike in the 30th minute, while Cameroon equalized through Vincent Aboubakar in the 75th minute to end the game 1-1 at full time.
In his reaction few hours after the game, Kanu took to his twitter handle to express his happiness with the outcome of the game. “Well done boys up Super Eagles.we are proud of you all 1-1 and going home with a point congrats.Russia here we come thanks to our supporters,” the former Arsenal and Super Eagles legend wrote on twitter.
Nigeria currently lead the Group B table with 10 points from four matches played so far in the qualifiers. The Super Eagles are playing their next game at home to the Chipolopolo of Zambia 7 October in Uyo, while their last group game is away to the Fennecs of Algeria 7 November. Nigeria only need at least one point to book their ticket for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Mundial holding in Russia.
